Test proctoring Guidelines

The Carbon County Library System strives to support educational institutions and lifelong learning by offering proctoring services to our patrons to facilitate their ability to take examinations for their online or distance education courses.

Please note that our rooms vary and our space might not meet the requirements of your test. Please determine if this is the case for the exam you are taking.

Appointments:

  •   To schedule a time to have your exam proctored please call your local branch to schedule an appointment. The library requires at least a week advance notice before the date of the test.

  • Test proctoring is a service offered at all eight Carbon County libraries for any individual upon request based on the availability of library staff during regular library hours.

  • All exams must be completed no later than 15 minutes prior to the library closing time.

Fees:

  •   There is no fee for proctoring an examination, but the student is responsible for any related charges associated with the examination, such as printing, postage or faxing.

For students:

  •   It is the student’s responsibility to coordinate  date/time with the school  and the library.
  • The student is responsible for confirming that the examination materials have arrived at the library prior to the scheduled examination date.
  • The student is responsible to ensure tests are scheduled before any deadlines established by the educational institution.
  • The library staff will not sign a proctoring verification that attests to more than the staff has been able to do.
  • The library will not proctor the examinations that students bring in themselves.
  • The library will not be responsible for any delayed examinations, nor for any examination after it has been mailed back.
  • The student will be required to bring a valid photo I.D. on the day of the exam. A valid ID included a driver’s license, military ID, or passport.
  • The student should come prepared with pens, pencils, paper, calculator or other acceptable use materials.
  • The student is responsible for all related charges, including printing, postage, faxing.

For the library:

  •   Library staff is unable to sit with students and cannot guarantee the student will be in sight of the proctor at all times during exams.
  • The library cannot interpret test instructions or assist in a technical manner with an online test.  The proctor might be able to answer questions concerning login instructions but not about testing content.
  • The CCLS cannot guarantee that technical problems will not occur when using the library computers.
  • The CCLS cannot guarantee the ability to download software for test taking or modify existing computer settings for online exams.
  • The CCLS cannot guarantee a quiet environment.
  • Library staff is unable to be responsible for students’ belongings during testing. Including but not limited to backpacks and cellphones.
  • The CCLS cannot hold untaken exams past 1 month.
  • The library will not be responsible for examinations that are interrupted by power failure, failure of library equipment, library emergencies or library closures.

The CCLS reserves the right to refuse a proctoring request if the requirements exceed our capability.
